The upcoming weekend on the North American horse racing calendar offers a final breather as far as big-time races are concerned before action picks back up again with the Lecomte Stakes Jan. 22 at Fair Grounds (a Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve prep).

This year marks the sixth edition of the Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park. The Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes, which was inaugurated in 2017 as the richest horse race in the world, isn’t just a destination for the best horses, the event also attracts a range of celebrities and major entertainment personalities.

Horse racing across North America has picked back up again after the holiday season, and major tracks are in full swing as fans and horseplayers get back in the groove and prepare for a very exciting end of January about three weeks from now highlighted by the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes card at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 29.

With 38 editions – and counting – in the record book, the Breeders' Cup World Championships stands as an amazing success story that has withstood the test of time.

The North American horse racing calendar turns over this Saturday, and horsemen, fans, and gamblers alike are all anticipating a 2022 that’s full of great racing, big scores, and more than anything else, a sense of normalcy resembling this time a couple of years ago… which will mean we’ve left the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic behind.
